I’m a novelist, screenwriter, journalist, and creative consultant. I grew up in Aspen, Colorado, and studied Anthropology and Photography at Princeton. After college I spent several years traveling through Europe, Asia, and Australia. While living in Thailand, I wrote my first screenplay—which led me to Hollywood.
Over the years I’ve developed projects ranging from HBO’s Rome to historical work for National Geographic and CGI animated films for Sony. My novels Echelon and Empyre explore the intersection of technology, espionage, and geopolitics, and my newest book, End Game, looks at the gamification of modern intelligence.
When I'm not at my desk, I'm out on the trails as an ultrarunner and photographer. Long days outside have a way of bringing out my best ideas.
I live in Santa Barbara, California, with my wonderful wife and two great kids.
