Adventures on the Trail

ONLY FORWARD

Monochrome view of wispy cirrus clouds above a distant ocean horizon. Santa Barbara Channel and Channel Islands.

A Visual Memoir

VISION

The project is less about miles than meaning - a pared-down look at what movement reveals.

PATH

It traces my path from a torn Achilles through runs across the Grand Canyon, the Alps, and the Santa Barbara hills behind my home.

ESSENCE

The photographs are taken mid-run, the writing pulled from trail notes. They explore what movement reveals over time — how pain sharpens attention and place teaches patience.

BEGINNINGS

Rim to Rim to Rim defines bucket list. Fifty miles through the heart of the Grand Canyon with ten thousand feet of climbing — it’s the run that got me running. Getting there took a year and a half and one pandemic.
